Seam House is imagined around a close encounter with stone. Ground Line Atelier gives the Marrakesh residence an inward quality, placing a textured boundary within reach of the rooms it defines. The architecture uses concrete to establish a clear enclosure, then opens that enclosure through a carefully proportioned strip of glazing. Light enters as a measured presence, giving the stone a particular intensity.

The contrast between the two heavy materials gives the project its first distinction. Concrete carries broad, relatively even planes, while the stone breaks into smaller variations of colour and depth. Their meeting is not concealed. A joint, a shadow or a narrow line of glass marks the point at which one condition gives way to another, allowing the construction to remain readable.

The opening offers a view at the scale of a surface rather than a panorama. This closeness changes the role of the window. It becomes a way of admitting texture and reflected light into the room, making the boundary feel present even when little beyond it is visible. The house gains a sense of depth through attention to what is immediately beside it.

Daylight moves across the irregular face of the stone in small increments. Recesses become dark while raised edges brighten, creating a pattern that can change without any movement in the architecture. Inside, the concrete responds more quietly. Its steadier tone gives the eye a place to rest before returning to the more varied surface beyond the glass.

The rooms are conceived as places where ordinary routines can take on a slower rhythm. A seat near the opening provides a position from which to read these changes. The material palette stays limited so that furniture, textiles and the traces of daily life can add another layer without obscuring the structure. The building establishes continuity while occupation supplies variation.

Ground Line Atelier finds the character of Seam House at its boundaries. The narrow meeting of concrete, glass and stone gives the project both shelter and an awareness of the outside. Its spaces are defined by weight, but made livable through light. A modest opening becomes enough to keep a solid room in conversation with its surroundings.

Conduit Workshop takes its order from the systems that usually sit above everyday attention. Lines of metal conduit pass beneath a concrete ceiling, turning and gathering as they move through the room. In this imagined Toronto workspace, Assembly Room allows those services to remain visible. Their repeated paths become part of the interior's composition, connecting practical requirements to the experience of looking upwards.

The concrete shell provides a broad and uneven background. Marks in the surface describe its construction, while columns give the room a steady sequence of supports. Against this texture, the metal lines feel precise. Their bends and intervals create a finer rhythm, allowing the ceiling to be read at two scales: the span of the structure and the smaller movement of its services.

Where the lines change direction, the system becomes especially legible. Several parallel routes gather into a curve, then continue across another part of the ceiling. These moments give the room a sense of movement without adding a separate decorative element. A practical connection becomes a visual event because it has been left clear enough to understand.

The lower part of the workshop is conceived with the same attention to legibility. Open work areas sit within the structural grid, while finer elements provide local boundaries. The arrangement leaves room for tools, materials and people to change position. The more permanent systems remain visible overhead, giving the shifting activity below a continuous point of reference.

Light moves differently across the two principal surfaces. Concrete holds shadow in its texture; metal catches brightness along a narrow edge. As a result, a service line may become prominent from one position and quieter from another. The ceiling never reads as a completely flat image. It has depth, direction and a series of relationships that unfold while moving through the room.

Assembly Room treats the workshop as a place where making should be evident in the building as well as in its use. Exposed structure and services give the interior a directness that supports this idea. Conduit Workshop finds its expression in the coordination of necessary parts, allowing their shared rhythm to become the character of the space.
