Stem Vessel begins with the space around a stem. A narrow glass tube receives water and a cutting, while a folded metal support gives the arrangement its footing. Developed as a small object for a Kyoto interior, the vessel asks very little of its surroundings. A shelf, a ledge or the corner of a table is enough. Its presence comes from the relationship between a firm structure and the irregular line of a living branch.

The stainless steel support is read as a sequence of thin planes. From one angle it appears almost closed; from another, gaps open between its edges. These changes make the object feel less fixed than its construction suggests. The metal provides balance without becoming a pedestal, leaving the stem and its glass container visible. Each part can be understood separately, yet the arrangement depends on their proximity.

Glass introduces another measure of time. The water level falls, a leaf shifts and a stem bends towards the light. Against these small changes, the steel remains steady. Its surface returns a muted impression of the room, taking on warmer or cooler tones according to where it is placed. The vessel is precise enough to hold a composition, but open enough to let that composition change.

There is a useful tension between the straight edge of the support and the branching growth above it. Neither is made to imitate the other. The geometry simply gives the plant a point of departure. A single cutting can extend far beyond the dimensions of the object, making the empty air around it part of the arrangement. Scale is established by this reach rather than by the vessel alone.

Handling the piece brings its construction into focus. The thinness of the metal, the smooth tube and the small space between them become more apparent at the scale of the hand. Filling the vessel is a brief, ordinary ritual. It gives the object a role beyond display and makes its apparent stillness dependent on regular attention.

Still Form Studio treats the vessel as a support for something that will never remain exactly the same. Its form is restrained, while its contents are free to grow, dry or be replaced.
